Worth noting

• Darin Mastroianni has continued to impress Twins manager Ron Gardenhire this season. The outfielder is hitting .291 with two home runs, nine RBIs and 13 steals in his last 37 games.

"[He] can make things happen and those are the kind of guys who, if you don't use them as a starter, then you put them in there when you're going through a little of one of those 'blahs,'" Gardenhire said. "You put a guy like that in there and he can really fire up a group."

• Gardenhire said the Twins are "very aware," of left-hander Scott Diamond's workload this year. The rookie lefty has thrown 177 innings between the Majors and Minors, compared to 162 a year ago, and likely will finish the season around 200.

• According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Tuesday was the second time in Twins history they scored at least seven runs in two separate innings in the same game. The other came on June 12, 2003, against the Rockies.

• Double-A New Britain outfielder Oswaldo Arcia was named the Eastern League Player of the Week after batting .382 with two home runs and 10 RBIs. He had multiple hits in all eight games and drove in at least one run in seven of those contests.
