• Catcher Max Ramirez, a .300 hitter for Triple-A Omaha, was off to a fast start for Bravos de Margarita in Venezuela, going 11-for-26 (.423) with eight runs in his first 10 games. Ditto for shortstop Orlando Calixte, who is 9-for-26 (.346) in six games for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League.

• Two Minor League pitchers were added to the Royals' winter league contingent: Right-hander Juan Gutierrez with Leones del Caracas in Venezuela and left-hander Antonio Cruz with Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Republic. Also, second baseman Tony Abreu joined Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican and catcher Manny Pina joined Ramirez's team in Venezuela.
