D-backs decline options on Blanco, Lindstrom

The D-backs declined 2013 options on catcher Henry Blanco and reliever Matt Lindstrom on Wednesday, making both players free agents.

Arizona opted to pay Lindstrom, 32, a $200,000 buyout rather than exercise his $4 million option for next season. The right-hander, acquired from the Orioles on Aug. 26 in exchange for southpaw Joe Saunders, compiled a 2.53 ERA in 12 appearances with the D-backs. He has posted a 3.64 ERA over his six-year career.

Blanco, 41, batted .188 in 21 contests for Arizona during the 2012 campaign, his second season with the club. He had a mutual option for 2013 worth $1.24 million. The native of Venezuela totes a .227 career batting average over his 15-year career.
