Tigers farmhand Niuman Romero went 4-for-5 with three doubles and three runs scored and former Major Leaguer Jose Castillo homered, drove in five runs and scored twice for the Caribes on Thursday. Eight different players drove in runs Anzoategui, which built a 9-0 lead after three innings and totaled 21 hits in the contest. Johermyn Chavez (Cubs) also homered for the Caribes -- a two-run shot in the top of the ninth. Box score

Caracas 4, La Guaira 3
A three-run homer by Daniel Mayora (Giants) and a solo shot by Jesus Guzman (Padres) in the bottom of the fourth powered the Leones to victory. Renny Ozuna (Angels) connected on a three-run homer in the top of the eighth to cut the deficit to one for the Tiburones, but Leones closer Juan Gutierrez (Royals) pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his 10th save. Mets' No. 3 prospect Wilmer Flores blasted a two-run homer and Indians southpaw Eric Berger tossed six three-hit shutout innings to lead the Bravos over the Tigres. Angels farmhand Carlos Colmenares smacked a two-run homer in the top of the ninth, but the Tigres could not close the gap. Box score

A walk-off home run by Humberto Quintero gave the first-place Aguilas an extra-inning win over Lara. Quintero also drove in Zulia's second run with an RBI groundout in the seventh. Journeyman right-hander Garrett Mock shut down the Algodoneros over seven two-hit innings, striking out seven and walking two to pick up his third win of the season. Mets prospect Juan Carlos Gamboa drove in a game-high three runs to lead the Caneros to their first victory of the second half, snapping a five-game losing skid. Designated hitter Barbaro Canizares went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and four RBIs to power the Yaquis. A sixth-inning grand slam by Royals second baseman Irving Falu provided the necessary cushion for the Indios in a slugfest in which the teams combined for 17 runs on 22 hits. Angel Sanchez (Astros) and Twins' No. 5 prospect Eddie Rosario both went deep for Mayaguez, and catcher Martin Maldonado (Brewers) tallied a game-high three hits and drove in a run. Braves farmhand Sergio Miranda launched a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to give the Cangrejeros a walk-off win over Carolina in Game 1 of the teams' doubleheader. Luis Figueroa and Luis Matos also homered for Santurce in the contest -- both solo shots. Box score
