Orioles sign Peguero to one-year deal

Non-tendered by Giants, outfielder adds depth to Baltimore

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles added some depth by signing of outfielder Francisco Peguero on Saturday morning, after he was non-tendered by the Giants earlier this week.

The 25-year-old Peguero was designated for assignment on Nov. 27. Entering last season, rated Peguero as the No. 98 prospect overall, while Baseball America tabbed him as the Giants' fifth-best prospect.

While playing for Triple-A Fresno, Peguero sustained a concussion in June that forced him to miss 12 games. He divided his season between Fresno and San Francisco, batting .316 in 70 games at Triple-A and .207 (6-for-29) in 18 games in the Majors.

Peguero's signing means the Orioles now have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
