The Padres' Jesus Guzman hit a two-run double in the top of the ninth to break a 5-5 tie, and two batters later, Bobby Abreu smashed a two-run home run to put the game out of reach. Caracas scored four in the ninth to beat Aragua, as Guzman went 4-for-5, while Indians No. 17 prospect Jesus Aguilar went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBIs. Hector Gimenez homered twice for Aragua and drove in all five runs -- four of which came on a third-inning grand slam. Box score

Lara 8, Magallanes 5
Joe Thurston went 3-for-3, and Luis Valbuena increased his average to .341 with a two-hit night, as Lara topped Magallanes. Kansas City's Mike Moustakas went deep in the fourth inning, putting Lara ahead, and Erasmo Ramirez made sure the lead would hold up with six shutout innings in which he allowed just three hits. Adonis Garcia went 2-for-4 for Magallanes, which scored four of its five runs in the ninth. Box score

Hermosillo got a balanced 11-hit offensive attack, including a 2-for-4, three-RBI night that included a two-run home run for Yunesky Sanchez. Stefan Gartrell had three hits and Jerry Owens and Heber Gomez chipped in two more apiece for Hermosillo. Rolando Acosta drove in Navojoa's lone run. Box score

Major League free agent Oliver Perez blew a one-run Culiacan lead in the ninth inning, extending the game for Guasave, which won on a bases-loaded walk-off single by Japhet Amador in the bottom of the 14th. Ronnier Mustelier hit a two-run homer and Carlos Alvarez added a solo shot for Culiacan. Box score

Los Mochis 8, Obregon 3
Los Mochis erupted for five runs in the sixth inning and three more in the eighth to seal an easy victory. Jake Fox, Emmanuel Avila and Rodolfo Amador chipped in with two RBIs apiece. Amador homered for Los Mochis. Barbaro Canizares had two RBIs for Obregon. Box score

Terry Doyle pitched six shutout innings and four relievers combined to toss the final three scoreless frames as Mexicali blanked Mazatlan. Ricky Alvarez's two-run homer in the second inning provided most of the offense, and former Major Leaguer Russell Branyan singled in the other Mexicali run. Box score

Gigantes 12, Toros 0
Fresh off signing a one-year contract with the Orioles on Saturday, Francisco Peguero went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs, as Gigantes cruised past Toros. The Gigantes offense put up 15 hits, including two apiece from Marcell Ozuna, Wilson Betemit, Moises Sierra and Leury Garcia. Rudy Owens -- a southpaw in the Astros' system -- tossed five innings of one-hit ball to earn the win. Box score

Escogido 5, Aguilas 2
Kevin Pillar and Wilkin Castillo pounded out three hits apiece as Escogido topped Aguilas to move into first place in the Dominican Winter League. Veteran infielder Pedro Ciriaco added two hits of his own and knocked in the game's first run with a sacrifice fly in the second. Escogido now sits a half-game ahead of Aguilas at 25-15. Box score

Estrellas 3, Licey 2
Alfredo Marte's RBI single in the eighth inning turned out to be the difference, as Estrellas came from behind to beat Licey. Marte finished the night with two hits and a run scored, while Audy Ciriaco also notched a pair of hits and scored twice. Licey's only two runs came on a fourth-inning fielding error by shortstop Gustavo Nunez. Box score

Luis Mateo knocked in the decisive run with an RBI triple in the top of the ninth inning, as Caguas topped Ponce on Tuesday night. Mateo led the Caguas offense with three hits, and Houston farmhand Luis Cruz tossed five innings of one-hit ball. The Caguas bullpen then finished with four combined innings of one-hit ball, as Saul Rivera retired the side in order for the save. Box score

Carolina 3, Santurce 2
Houston's Carlos Corporan tied the game in the top of the ninth inning with an RBI single, and Jesus Feliciano plated the eventual winning run two batters later with a single of his own. Veteran outfielder Luis Matos went 2-for-4 and scored the tying run for Carolina, while Jonathan Singleton and Jonathan Rodriguez had two hits apiece for Santurce. Box score
