Free-agent shortstop Ronny Cedeno's three-run home run keyed a five-run fifth inning that helped Magallanes put it away. Adonis Garcia added two hits for Magallanes, which had nine hits in all.
La Guaira 7, Caracas 5
La Guaira got three RBIs from Rene Reyes and two RBIs, including a home run, from Cesar Suarez, to outlast Caracas for the victory. Joe Thurston went 2-for-2 with two walks for the winning club. Jesus Guzman and Bobby Abreu homered for Caracas. Box score

Mexicali 13, Culiacan 6
It was the Brad Snyder show in this game. Snyder homered three times and drove in six runs to lead the rout for Mexicali, which also got homers from Chris Roberson and Christhian Presichi and two hits from former big leaguer Russell Branyan. Brad Boyer and Luis Mauricio Suarez went deep for Culiacan. Box score
Los Mochis 4, Navojoa 1
Los Mochis won the game with three runs in the eighth inning, snapping a 1-1 tie. The big blow was a two-run homer off the bat of Ramon Orantes. Jake Fox homered for Los Mochis in the seventh.
Guasave 7, Hermosillo 4
Hermosillo took a quick three-run lead in the top of the first inning, but a balanced power attack by Guasave took over. Guasave belted four homers in the game, including shots by Jesus Cota, who hit two, plus Leonardo Heras and Jesus Lopez. Box score

Gigantes 4, Aguilas 3
Gigantes scored all four of their runs in the top of the second inning, and it turned out to be enough. Three of the runs came on a three-run homer by Hector Gomez, and Maikel Franco added the other RBI. Ricardo Nanita and Hector Luna homered for Aguilas. Box score
Escogido 8, Licey 3
Escogido opened up a tight game between rivals with a five-run seventh inning and held on for the victory. Pedro Ciriaco had another huge game for Escogido, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Engel Beltre homered and had three RBIs for Licey. Box score

Mayaguez 4, Ponce 3
Mayaguez was trailing by two runs in the bottom of the eighth but staged a dramatic rally capped by Kennys Vargas' three-run homer that turned out to be the game winner. It was Vargas' second homer of the game as the first baseman accounted for all of his team's runs. Box score
Caguas 9, Carolina 5
Catcher Roberto Pena's eighth-inning grand slam put this one out of reach. Pena, Juan Silva and Neftali Soto chipped in with two hits apiece in the victory. Osvaldo Martinez homered for Carolina. Box score
