Royals sign veteran righty Loe to Minor League deal

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Royals are going to give 32-year-old right-hander Kameron Loe a shot with their Triple-A club in Omaha. He was signed to a Minor League contract on Friday.

The 6-foot-8, 245-pound Loe has nine years of experience in the Major Leagues with a composite 34-43 record and 4.49 ERA in 322 games (48 starts).

Last year, Loe spent most of the season with Triple-A Gwinnett in the Atlanta organization and was 4-4 with a 3.07 ERA in 27 games. He also split time with the Braves, Cubs and Mariners, going 1-2 with a 5.85 ERA in 16 combined games.

In his 26 2/3 big league innings last year, Loe gave up 21 earned runs and 11 home runs. He was in Spring Training with the Giants this year, but he opted out of his deal when he didn't make the Major League roster.
