Maybin shows off glove with leaping grab

ST. PETERSBURG -- In the fourth inning of the Braves' 2-0 loss to the Rays on Tuesday at at Tropicana Field, center fielder Cameron Maybin made a spectacular leaping catch at the wall in right-center field to take extra bases away from Asdrubal Cabrera.

A pitcher's duel had developed between starters Williams Perez and Erasmo Ramirez when, with two away, Rays shortstop Cabrera launched a 1-2 changeup from Perez deep to right-center. Maybin, who was shading Cabrera slightly to left-center, broke on contact, raced straight to the wall and leaped to make the grab and keep the game scoreless.

He also displayed his hustle in the first inning, attempting to score from first on a Nick Markakis double while giving up his body on a popup slide before being tagged out by Rays catcher Curt Casali.

Maybin has recorded four outfield assists on the season -- matching his career high -- while boasting a .992 fielding percentage.
