SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Four days after signing , the Giants are close to adding another veteran reinforcement to their crop of outfielders.

Maybin plays all three outfield spots and can serve as a right-handed-hitting complement to in center field. The 31-year-old batted .249 with a .662 OPS, four home runs and 10 stolen bases in 129 games between the Marlins and Mariners in 2018.
A first-round Draft pick of the Tigers in 2005, Maybin has played for the Padres, Marlins, Tigers, Angels, Mariners, Braves and Astros over his 12-year career in the Majors.
President of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi had wanted to add multiple established outfielders this offseason, and he has now seemingly accomplished that goal by acquiring Parra and Maybin this week.
While Parra and Maybin will be brought into camp as non-roster invitees, they are likely to make the Opening Day roster given the youth and inexperience of the rest of the Giants' outfield contingent, which includes Duggar, , , and Rule 5 Draft pick .
Worth noting
• Manager Bruce Bochy has liked what he's seen so far from switch-pitcher , who joined the Giants on a one-year deal in December. Venditte, 33, alternated throwing from the right side and the left side during his first bullpen session earlier this week.
"He's got a nice angle," Bochy said. "He's pretty impressive really with what he's able to do and command it. It's a tough at-bat. You get the matchup. He's coming from behind the hitter on both sides. When he came up last year, he did a nice job for the Dodgers. He threw the ball well."

When will Bochy use Venditte?
"Probably when I'm stuck and I don't know what matchup I want," Bochy joked. "I'll just put him out there, and I can't get questioned on it."
• Dan Fouts, the Hall of Fame quarterback who spent his entire career with the San Diego Chargers, visited Giants camp Saturday and spent some time chatting with Bochy.
"He usually stops by and spends a day with us in the spring," Bochy said. "It's always good to see him. He's a big Giants fan."
