Top prospects lead I-Cubs' offensive explosion

Candelario, Happ, Zagunis, Young combine to drive in 12 runs

The Chicago Cubs received their World Series rings on Wednesday night in front of a packed house at Wrigley Field. Meanwhile, down at the Triple-A level, the Iowa Cubs' offense, led by and , erupted to score 18 runs on 17 hits in an 18-5 rout of New Orleans.
Candelario, the Cubs' No. 4 prospect and No. 92 on the Top 100, continued his outstanding start to the season by going 4-for-4 with three doubles and one triple. The 23-year-old third baseman drove in five runs, the third time this season that he's accomplished the feat, and he leads all Minor League hitters with 15 RBIs. He's batting .370 with a 1.340 OPS through seven games.
As for Happ, the Cubs' No. 2 prospect (No. 25 overall) connected on his fourth home run in seven games, launching a two-out, two-run shot to right field in the bottom of the eighth inning. The second baseman, who batted third on Wednesday, finished 2-for-5, with three runs scored and three RBIs.
Left fielder (Cubs' No. 6) and right fielder (No. 13) also collected multiple hits for Iowa, with both players going 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Together, the four Cubs hitters combined to go 10-for-17 with 11 runs and 12 RBIs.
On the mound, right-hander tossed five scoreless innings to record his second win in as many starts for Iowa. The Cubs' No. 21 prospect surrendered just three hits and struck out three while throwing 48 of his 67 pitches for strikes.
