MESA, Ariz. -- Andrew Knizner, the Cardinals' No. 27 prospect, has been soaking up every opportunity to gain experience during the Arizona Fall League.

The catcher hit two home runs and notched three RBIs in Friday's game against the Mesa Solar Sox after going 4-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's game against Peoria. Knizner now joins the Pirates' Logan Hill and the Brewers' Monte Harrison to have a multi-homer game in the Fall League this year.

"It's exciting," Knizner said. "Anytime you hit one home run it's a good feeling. So when you hit two, it's really special. I want to grab this momentum and keep riding the wave."

Knizner has a .393 batting average through seven games. Despite his standout performance, the Saguaros weren't able to hold on. The Solar Sox won the game, 7-6, with a walk-off triple from the Cubs' Jason Vosler.

"Today I was finally able to time up some fastballs and really get into them so I'm just going to stick with that. Keep having a good approach and putting good swings on the baseball," Knizner said.

As a seventh-round pick in the 2016 Draft out of North Carolina State, Knizner has learned a lot about the game since being selected by the Cardinals. He knows that success is not based solely on physical ability but also on mental preparation.

"The main thing is just having confidence, you know, going up there and just competing," Knizner said. "I've always been pretty strong mentally, having a good mental approach and sticking to a plan, and that started from a young age."

The Saguaros' loss on Friday dropped their record to 4-6, putting them two games behind Peoria for second place in the West Division. Knizner was one of three Saguaros players with a home run in the game. They'll look to bounce back on Monday when they host the Salt River Rafters.
