BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Pirates and Cardinals reportedly are moving their Aug. 20 game from PNC Park to Williamsport, Pa., according to multiple news outlets.
The game would take place during the Little League World Series. Initially scheduled as an afternoon game in Pittsburgh, the special matchup reportedly will air on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. ESPN also broadcasts the Little League World Series.
The Pirates and Cardinals have not commented on or confirmed the change in venue, nor has Major League Baseball. An announcement could come at some point this week, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. DKPittsburghsports.com first reported the news.
The game would take place at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field -- a 4,200-capacity ballpark that is home to the New York-Penn League's Williamsport Crosscutters, a Phillies affiliate. The ballpark is just a short drive away from the downsized Howard J. Lamade Stadium, where the LLWS is held.
