Cards' top prospects to be dispersed among affiliates

CHICAGO -- With Opening Day rosters for their various Minor League teams now finalized, the Cardinals have confirmed that at least one of their Top 10 prospects will be featured at each of their four full-season affiliates.

Both Triple-A Memphis and Class A Advanced Palm Beach are slated to have three players designated as Top 10 prospects by MLB Pipeline. Top prospect Stephen Piscotty returns to Memphis, where he played 136 games as an outfielder last season. Lefties Marco Gonzales (No. 2) and Tim Cooney (No. 10) will anchor that Triple-A rotation, which is also set to include Tyler Lyons, John Gast and Zach Petrick.

Some of the organization's best young talent will be stashed in Palm Beach. That group is headlined by 20-year-old pitchers Alex Reyes (No. 3) and Rob Kaminsky (No. 4). Carson Kelly (No. 8) will be catching the duo in his second season behind the plate.

Outfielder Charlie Tilson (No. 9) has been placed on the Double-A roster, while right-hander Jack Flaherty (No. 5) and outfielder Magneuris Sierra (No. 6) are headed to Class A Peoria. Sierra, who batted .386 with 17 extra-base hits and 30 RBIs in 52 Gulf Coast League games last year, was the organization's Minor League Player of the Year in 2014.

All four of the Cardinals' affiliates open their seasons on Thursday.
