HOUSTON -- Carlos Correa is committed to making an impact beyond the field. He continued that focus on Saturday morning, joining with the Houston Children's Charity's "A Better Night's Sleep Program" to provide 150 local children with mattresses, frames, sheets, pillows and blankets.
"It was a really special moment for me and something I've always wanted to do," Correa said. "I wanted to share my time, share those beds with the kids. It was an unbelievable experience." The program, in place since 2007, has bestowed more than 7,000 beds to those children without access to mattresses in the greater Houston area. As a professional athlete, Correa said he understands the importance of a good night's sleep. A good night's sleep is a primary part of the program's aim, preventing sleep irregularities that exacerbate issues with ADHD and issues in school. Correa said he was compelled to work with this specific charity because of its outreach to the youth community. "I'm a kid right now, I'm 21 years old," Correa said. "I get along with them, and I love helping them out. It was a special opportunity and I know how important their mission is."
