DENVER -- With the third update in All-Star voting, things look more promising for Rockies outfielders. Right fielder Carlos Gonzalez continues to rise, moving up from ninth to eighth, and center fielder Charlie Blackmon made his first appearance in the top 15, placing 15th.
Gonzalez received the seventh-most votes among outfielders in the past week, accumulating 186,793. He still trails Yoenis Cespedes for the third and final starting outfield spot by more than double his votes: 1,395,577 to 516,554.

"It's always great to be recognized, that's the way I put it," said Gonzalez, who was an All-Star in 2012 and 2013. "I'm just trying to do my best. If we get recognized it's nice, but it's not what I drive for. We have a lot of important games for our organization, and that's what I drive to do. But if I get recognized, don't get me wrong, it's always good to spend time with my family and be around great players, so it will be great."
Gonzalez has been on a tear lately, hitting a Major League best .395 since May 23. His 25 multihit games are tied for third in the NL, and his 15 home runs -- including 10 in the last 17 days -- are tied for sixth in the NL.

Meanwhile, Cubs infielders Kris Bryant and Addison Russell increased their leads over Rockies Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story, who both trail behind in second place. Bryant leads Arenado, the NL leader in WAR, at third base by 463,376 votes, and Russell leads Story at shortstop by 282,041 votes.
