Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies voted the Budweiser Presents National League Player of the Month for July

Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has been voted the Budweiser Presents National League Player of the Month for July. Budweiser, the official beer sponsor of Major League Baseball and sponsor for 23 of 30 MLB clubs, is also the presenting sponsor of the American League Player of the Month Award.

In 23 games during the month of July, Gonzalez led the Majors with 74 total bases and paced the NL with 11 home runs, 24 RBI and an .841 slugging percentage while ranking second in runs scored (36), tied for third in hits (34), fourth in hitting (.386, 36-for-88) and seventh in on-base percentage (.438). Gonzalez clubbed his 19th and 20th home runs of the season on July 27th, for his second multi-homer performance in as many games. In doing so, the Venezuelan-born slugger became the first Rockies hitter to collect consecutive multi-homer games since Vinny Castilla (July 8-9, 1995). Cargo's two-home run game on July 26th included a career high-tying six RBI, which helped him earn NL Player of the Week accolades for July 20th-26th. On July 11th, the 29-year-old's three RBI were all the Rockies would need in a 3-2 decision over the visiting Atlanta Braves. Gonzalez connected for a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to stake the Rox to an early 2-0 lead before driving in the game-winning run with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to seal a 3-2 victory. With 21 home runs this season, Gonzalez is currently tied for sixth among NL hitters, while his 180 total bases are tied for 11th. This is his first career Player of the Month honor.

Other players receiving votes included Cincinnati's Joey Votto (.405, 18 R, 34 H, 5 HR, 13 RBI, .549 OBP) and Jay Bruce (.315, 11 R, 28 H, 10 2B, 5 HR, 19 RBI, .618 SLG); Gerardo Parra (.435, 23 R, 4 HR, 10 RBI, .718 SLG, .495 OBP), who was a Milwaukee Brewer until being traded to Baltimore on Friday; Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt (.333, 12 R, 28 H, 2 HR, 12 RBI, .455 OBP); and Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen (.287, 17 R, 27 H, 6 HR, 21 RBI, .532 SLG).

The Budweiser Presents National League Player of the Month for July 2015, Carlos Gonzalez, will receive a specially designed trophy, suitably engraved, in recognition of his accomplishment.
