ARLINGTON -- Rangers outfielder broke through with his first Major League hit, a single to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning during Sunday afternoon's 7-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
"In the beginning, I didn't believe it," Tocci said. "It is something you dream of as a little kid … that first base hit."
Tocci's single came off Blue Jays reliever with the Rangers trailing 7-3. Tocci was 0-for-8 on the season with a walk before lining the single into center field.
Tocci was a Rule 5 Draft pick by the Rangers who made the team out of Spring Training. Sunday marked his third start in center field.
Rangers manager Jeff Banister presented the baseball to him in a case after the game.
"I am going to put it up high in my house," Tocci said.
