The Dodgers reinstated catcher A.J. Ellis from the disabled list and optioned catcher Austin Barnes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Ellis, who went on the DL with right knee inflammation on July 20, returns to a six-game hitting streak (8-for-20, .400) with a double, two home runs and four RBIs. Over his past 17 games since May 26, he has posted a .319/.429/.511 slash line to raise his season batting average to .222.

Barnes has appeared in nine games with the Dodgers in his first MLB season, with four hits in 15 at-bats.
