Phils sign Minors vet Hunter to deal with ST invite

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies announced Monday that they had signed outfielder Cedric Hunter to a Minor League contract, and that Hunter will be in Spring Training as a non-roster invitee.
Hunter, 27, hit .283 with 21 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 77 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and a .751 OPS in 515 plate appearances last season with Triple-A Gwinnett in Atlanta's Minor League system. He has a .761 OPS in 10 Minor League seasons.

The Padres selected Hunter in the third round of the 2006 Draft. He appeared in six big league games after making the Opening Day roster for San Diego in 2011, but hasn't played in the big leagues since.
