Celebration of Papi's 500th; Fred Lynn Bobbleheads launch final homestand of the regular season

Players will greet fans at the gates, take photos on the field, and give fans the shirts off their backs in the Final Weekend Finale of the regular season

The Boston Red Sox and their fans will celebrate the 500th home run in the magnificent career of David Ortiz when the club launches its final homestand of the regular season this Monday, September 21. Bobbleheads presented by Old Dominion Freight Line celebrating Red Sox Hall of Famer Fred Lynn follow on Tuesday, September 22. The club, which has a 25-18 record (.581) over its last quarter of the season (starting July 30), also has won 17 of its last 27 (.630) starting August 18.

The Red Sox play their final September games at Fenway Park seven straight days, including four against Tampa Bay and three against Baltimore. Celebrating "Fan Appreciation Month," the club will have special promotions each day, culminating in the final weekend, in which players greet fans at the gates before Saturday's game, take pictures with fans on the field before Sunday's game, and then give fans the shirts off their backs after the game.

All fans in attendance at the regular season finale are invited to run the bases after the game.

Ortiz, who hit career home runs 499 and 500 in Tampa Bay on Saturday, September 12, as well as Number 501 last night in Baltimore, will be honored Monday in a pre-game ceremony presented by Prime Motor Group.

Lynn, who in 1975 became the first player to ever win Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors in the same year, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of that achievement with bobbleheads presented to all fans Tuesday.

Before each game, Monday through Friday, a Red Sox player will take selfies with fans from 5:50-6:20 p.m. in the Red Sox Team Store on Yawkey Way.

After games Monday through Saturday, the Budweiser Right Field Roof Deck will re-open for an hour with these special features each night:

  • Music Monday: Grateful Dead Night
  • Trivia Tuesday: Hosted by NESN's Gary Striewski
  • Karaoke Wednesday: Presented by The People's Karaoke
  • Throwback Thursday: Music of the '80s and '90s
  • And Red Lantern Nights on Friday Saturday

The popular Family 4 Packs Program will be extended and available September 21-24. Families can enjoy four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas, all for $75. Fans can visit www.redsox.com/family4pax. In addition, Aramark will offer special complimentary Fenway Park concessions to fans throughout the last seven games.

The Red Sox' partners at Twins '47 Brand will also participate with special pricing on merchandise, including 25% off for Season Ticket Holders in their three stores at Fenway Park (the Red Sox Team Store on Yawkey Way, the Right Field Team Store at Gate B, and the Home Plate Team Store at Gate D). In addition, fan can "buy one, get one half off" on all 47 Brand hats at the Red Sox Team Store on Yawkey Way, and the "Fan Appreciation Store" on Yawkey Way will continue to offer special deals on Red Sox merchandise through the final homestand.
