Chapman Gives Teammates Hats

Yesterday Aroldis Chapman gave all of his Cincinnati Reds teammates hats that have his nickname “Cuban Missile” emblazoned across the front. And I’ve never described anything as emblazoned more accurately than this.

As far as I can tell this is not the launch of a Cuban Missile™ brand clothing line, unfortunately. He had each hat made personally for each teammate, meaning different colors, different fonts and different amounts of sparkly glitter on each hat. It really is such an odd but personal and kind of adorable gift to give someone and I love it (I especially like how happy Hanahan looks in the picture above. Can you imagine his wife letting him wear that hat to Sunday brunch with her parents? Hahaha, I can’t).

I like the idea of personalized hats so much I thought that the other Reds should follow suit and put their nickname on a hat and give it to everyone. Here are their nicknames (some that I made up just now) that they should put on the gift hats:

Brandon Phillips - “Dat Dude”
Jay Bruce - “Brrrruuuuuuuuuuuccccccee”
Shin-Soo Choo - “Base Dweller”
Joey Votto - “Joey Votto”
Bronson Arroyo - “The Guitar Man, Bronson”
Zack Cozart - “Chompers” (‘cause he has really nice teeth)
Dusty Baker - “Candlestick Maker”
