Chapman works clean frame in second rehab outing

CINCINNATI -- Reds hurler Aroldis Chapman moved closer to returning from the disabled list Saturday when he pitched a scoreless first inning for Class A Dayton, his second Minor League rehabilitation appearance.

Chapman threw 16 pitches. He struck out Lake County's Clint Frazier swinging and induced a popup from Claudio Bautista. Chapman walked No. 3 hitter Dorssys Paulino, but picked off Paulino to end the inning.

The two-time All-Star is likely to make one or two more appearances before being activated.

Thursday marked Chapman's first game action since March 19, when he was struck in the head by a line drive off the bat of Kansas City's Salvador Perez in a Spring Training game. Surgery was required to repair fractures near his nose and left eye.
