DETROIT -- Royals outfielder Jorge Soler rejoined the club on Wednesday after being recalled from Triple-A Omaha. In a corresponding roster move, infielder Cheslor Cuthbert was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left wrist sprain.

Soler, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Cubs in exchange for reliever Wade Davis, batted .164 with three doubles, a home run and three RBIs in an 18-game stint with the Royals prior to starting as the designated hitter in Wednesday's game against the Tigers. The 25-year-old began the season on the disabled list with a strained oblique and was sent to the Minors after struggling with the big league club.

Soler, who went 1-for-5 with an RBI single in an 8-2 win over the Tigers, responded well to his demotion, slashing at .333/.478/.736 in the 20 games since. Overall, Soler hit .324 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs at Omaha, including his earlier rehab stint.

"I was a little more aggressive, but a little more selective," Soler said through interpreter Pedro Grifol. "Basically, just concentrating and having a plan for each at-bat. I definitely felt better down there. I felt more focused.

"I was a little indecisive here. Sometimes I let good pitches go by. But [in Omaha], I was focused more on attacking good pitches."

Cuthbert, 24, is batting .196 with one home run and 10 RBIs in 33 games.

Cuthbert said he has been battling a sore left wrist for some time. He said he aggravated it on Sunday, possibly on a checked swing. Cuthbert's DL move is retroactive to Monday, and he will be eligible to return on July 6.
