BALTIMORE -- Led by Orioles slugger Chris Davis' eighth homer, Baltimore used a four-run third inning to notch a series-evening 5-2 win over Oakland in the second game of a split doubleheader at Camden Yards on Saturday night.
Backed by eight strong innings from Ubaldo Jimenez, the O's improved to 12-4 at Camden Yards this season. Jimenez held the A's to two runs, scattering nine hits and striking out six in his second win.
"It was a good game for us," Davis said. "I thought the first game we kind of looked dead. We showed a little life towards the end, but we didn't look like ourselves. It was good to regroup and come back out the second game. Ubaldo threw the ball extremely well, we played great defense and we were finally able to string some hits together and score some runs for him."

A's starter Jesse Hahn gave up five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings. Josh Reddick matched a career high with four hits and drove in one run for the A's, who won the first game of the twin bill, 8-4.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
The big Birds break out:Adam Jones, who entered the game batting .198, drove in a run in the third, while Davis' homer snapped an 0-for-16 skid. It was an all-around encouraging night for an Orioles offense that has struggled to see much middle-of-the-lineup production of late. Hyun Soo Kim, batting second for the first time in his career, drove in the game's first run on a groundout.

"I felt like the last couple games, my at-bats have been getting a lot better," Davis said. "My swings just didn't look right the last couple of weeks. I thought it was starting to get there. Felt like I've been seeing the ball well all year, just either haven't had a lot to hit or been chasing pitches out of the zone. It was good to get a good swing tonight, and we'll try to keep it rolling."
Hahn struggles: Typically, sinkerballers don't like extra rest, because their sinker can flatten out, and Hahn, pitching on six days' rest, sure didn't look like the pitcher who fired 6 2/3 scoreless innings against the Astros a week ago. Hahn was knocked around for eight hits in 5 1/3 innings, the big blow being Davis' two-run homer.
"Just a fastball up," Hahn said. "It was just that third inning for me. I have to do better controlling the situation there. It sped up on me a little bit there, and that was the frustrating part about it. I gotta be able to get out of that jam and be able to move on."
Jimenez goes eight strong: The righty went a season-high eight innings and looked much more in control. It marked the first outing since his debut that Jimenez had walked fewer than three batters. Jimenez has three quality starts in six games this season. More >

"I think the two-seam fastball was pretty good. I was able to keep it down in the zone. The split was good, too," Jimenez said. "[Catcher] Caleb [Joseph] was calling a great game, and I was executing the pitches that he was calling."
Reddick regaining rhythm: It was the fifth four-hit career game for Reddick, who finished with seven total in the doubleheader to raise his average from .260 to .301 in one day. Oakland's right fielder was just 6-for-32 over his previous eight games.

"Knowing your swing a little bit more and when to make an adjustment, I think that's been the key here the last couple games for him," A's manager Bob Melvin said.

"It's big to keep what we think is a strength healthy in our bullpen. And also from a confidence level with all 25 guys, that we've got some guys who can [pitch deep into games]. We know they're all capable of it."

MCFARLAND DOWN, UP, BACK DOWN AGAIN
The Orioles, who optioned reliever T.J. McFarland to Triple-A Norfolk before Game 1, used him as their 26th man for Game 2. Per the 26th man rules, he was sent back down following the doubleheader.
WHAT'S NEXT
A's: Oakland will have right-hander Kendall Graveman on the mound for Sunday's 10:35 a.m. PT series finale against the Orioles at Camden Yards. Graveman is 0-2 with an 8.18 ERA and a .392 opponents' batting average over his last two starts after going 1-1 with a 2.04 ERA and a .159 opponents' batting average over his first three starts.
Orioles: Baltimore will send Chris Tillman to the hill for Sunday's series finale at 1:35 p.m. ET. Tillman is fresh off Tuesday's win over the Yankees and has delivered three consecutive quality starts. Tillman, the Orioles' Opening Day starter, has struck out nine in each of his last two starts.
