Paddack, Cordero, Potts have strong games

Renfroe, Asuaje hitless in Triple-A All-Star Game

Outfielder Hunter Renfroe and second baseman started for the Pacific Coast League in the Triple-A All-Star Game in Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday night.
But their honor was overshadowed by the performances of right-handed pitcher , center fielder Franchy Cordero and shortstop Hudson Potts.
Paddack, the 20-year-old acquired from Miami in the trial, allowed two hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in five shutout innings for Class A Fort Wayne. Paddack has a 0.96 ERA in eight starts this season with 63 strikeouts against three walks in 37 1/3 innings.
Cordero, was 2-for-5 for Double-A San Antonio and made a sensational catch in center. Cordero has hit in all 13 games he's played since being promoted from Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore. He is 21-for-59 (.356) during the streak.
Potts, 17, a first-round draft pick of the Padres in the Draft, was 4-for-4 with the Arizona Rookie Padres with a home run and three RBIs. He is hitting .314 as a professional.
Asuaje hit in the leadoff position for the PCL and was 0-for-3 with a walk. Renfroe started in center and in the cleanup slot and was 0-for-2. The International League defeated the PCL, 4-2.
AROUND THE FARM
TRIPLE-A EL PASO (53-37): The Pacific Coast League was off for its All-Star break.
DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (8-11, 30-59): Midland 3, Missions 2. SS (.288) was 2-for-5 with a steal and a RBI. DH Gabriel Quintana (.252) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. 3B River Stevens (.246) was 2-for-4. Starting RHP Dinelson Lamet (2-4, 4.21 ERA) allowed three runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. RHP Yimmi Brasoban (2.65) had a strikeout in a perfect inning.
CLASS A ADVANCED LAKE ELSINORE (11-9, 43-47): Starting RHP Chris Huffman (3.08 ERA) allowed two hits on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings. RHP Ben Paullus (3.27) allowed a run on two hits in an inning. LHP Trevor Seidenberger (5.95) had a strikeout in a perfect inning. RHP Colby Blueberg (2-1, 1.99) issued a walk with two strikeouts in an otherwise perfect inning.
CLASS A FORT WAYNE (9-11, 45-45): TIN CAPS 6, Quad Cities 0. 1B Brad Zunica (.260) was 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored. SS Ruddy Giron (.200) was 2-for-3. 2B Peter Van Gansen (.230) was 2-for-3 with a run scored. RHP Corey Kimber (2-0, 2.82) followed Paddack and gave up two hits and two walks with five strikeouts in three scoreless innings. LHP Elvin Liriano (1.86) had a strikeout in a perfect inning.
SHORT SEASON TRI-CITY (15-11): DUST DEVILS 3, Eugene 2. 1B G.K. Young made his professional debut and was 2-for-3 with a steal and a run scored. SS Chris Baker (.272) was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly. 2B RHP (1.42 ERA) allowed two hits with two strikeouts in 3 1/3 scoreless innings. RHP Diomar Lopez (3-0, 1.42) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. RHP Jesse Scholtens (0.68) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings. RHP Aaron Cressley (1.74) allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth for his fourth save.
ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (9-8): 3B-LF Tyler Selesky (.339) backed Potts, going 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. 2B Fernando Tatis (.342) was 2-for-5 with a walk and a run scored. C Jose Lezama (.250) was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. RF Dayon Olmo (.250) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Starting RHP Mayky Perez (2.61 ERA) allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings. RHP Wilmer Torres (2.45) walked one with two strikeouts in one inning to get his fourth save.
DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (12-21): Blue Jays 13, PADRES 2. DH Jaffe Garcia (.261) was 3-for-3 with a RBI. 1B Juan Fernandez (.381) had a double in two at-bats with a run scored. Starting LHP Cristian Machuca (0-4, 7.85 ERA) allowed right runs on eight hits and a walk in two-thirds of an 11-run first inning.
