PITTSBURGH -- Career home run No. 34 for was similar to the first time the Marlins' outfielder circled the bases.
The difference from then to now was the outcome, because Yelich's liner over the wall in left field on Friday night was a big blast in Miami's 6-5 win over the Pirates at PNC Park.

"It was kind of in the same spot," Yelich said of his home run on Friday. "I put a good swing on the ball and hit something hard. I just happened to get it, and it carried out."
Yelich's home run was one of many highlights in a wild back-and-forth game.
In the eighth inning, after the Pirates went ahead, 5-3, Yelich's two-out RBI single tied the score.

delivered the game-winning hit off in the ninth inning.

"That was a wild game," Yelich said. "They made a lot of great plays out there. We made some great plays. It was one of those back-and-forth, never give in from either side. Those are fun to be a part of, especially when you come out on top."
There hasn't been a whole lot to cheer about for the Marlins in August, as they are now 6-11.
On Friday, a number of players contributed, with Yelich going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. He also started in center field for the first time this season, and in the eighth inning, he ran down 's long drive off at the wall to end the frame.

"We needed that," Yelich said. "We had a tough couple of days. It's been tough for us, but you've got to keep going. Baseball keeps coming at you every single day. Everything that has happened in the past has no effect on today. You just have got to keep battling, and keep our head down. I'm proud of the guys tonight."
