Cingrani or Reynolds likely to start Sunday

SAN FRANCISCO -- Reds pitchers Tony Cingrani and Greg Reynolds are starting in the two games of Tuesday's doubleheader at AT&T Park, which will also serve as a quasi-tryout to see who starts Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers.

Cingrani started despite having been optioned the Minor Leagues on July 17, because teams may add a pitcher to the roster for doubleheaders. He'll return to Arizona following the game to finish the 10-day stint required of players who have been optioned.

The left-hander will then be eligible to be recalled from the Arizona League Reds to start Sunday's game, which manager Dusty Baker said is more likely than Reynolds.

"We know very little about Reynolds," Baker said. "That's why Corky Miller is catching him, because he knows him from Triple-A. ... He's a guy that relies on defense. He's not a strikeout pitcher. So it's up to us to be in the best position without knowing anybody."
