No-brainer: Kershaw gets Game 1 nod

September 29th, 2017

DENVER -- will start Game 1 of the National League Division Series presented by T-Mobile next Friday, Oct. 6, at Dodger Stadium, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced before the club opened its final series of the season at Coors Field on Friday.
The Dodgers' opponent will be the winner of the NL Wild Card Game, with the D-backs hosting either the Rockies or Brewers. Kershaw's record this year against the potential opponents: 2-0 with an 0.59 ERA vs. Arizona; 3-2 with a 3.64 ERA vs. Colorado; 0-0 with a 1.29 ERA vs. Milwaukee.

Roberts was not ready to announce the rest of his rotation for the best-of-five NLDS, although it is expected to include right-hander and left-hander Rich Hill. The Dodgers are considering putting Alex Wood in the bullpen and having fellow lefty as the potential fourth starter.
Kershaw will be looking to improve on a 4-7 postseason record and 4.55 ERA in an elusive quest to reach the World Series. The lefty ace is 3-3 with a 4.01 ERA in nine NLDS starts and one relief appearance -- a save in last year's Game 5 clincher against Washington.
