Kershaw feels '100 percent' after bullpen session

Lefty ace throws 20-25 pitches, set for 40-45 on Tuesday in LA

CINCINNATI -- Throwing from a mound for the first time since his mid-July setback, Dodgers ace came away feeling good.
"Some pitching stuff to work on, but physically, felt good," Kershaw said.
Kershaw threw 20-25 pitches between rainfall in the Great American Ball Park visitors' bullpen in front of manager Dave Roberts and pitching coach Rick Honeycutt, among others.
"I thought it was successful," Roberts said. "With my own eyes, I thought the intensity was there and very productive. I think it was somewhere between 20 and 25 pitches, probably 22-ish. I think Clayton came out pretty positive."
The Dodgers have erred on the side of caution since Kershaw's setback. His next step will be to throw another bullpen on Tuesday in Los Angeles, between 40-45 pitches.
"I felt good," Kershaw said. "I think you just, until you face hitters, you don't really know for sure, but I feel 100 percent right now, so that's a good sign."
Worth noting
• The Dodgers will pitch on regular rest Monday and bump back to Tuesday. The move has nothing to do with Maeda's health, but Roberts feels the move is beneficial for Maeda as he continues to adjust to the U.S. in his first season over from Japan.
"There's things of everyday life that he's got to adjust to, getting comfortable with the ballpark, his family, finding a place to eat, grocery stores, all that kind of stuff plays into wearing on your mind and it's a lot," Roberts said. "With that, whenever we feel that we can give him an extra day or two to get his mind right, body, I think it proves a benefit."
