KANSAS CITY -- In Wednesday's 13-2 victory over the Royals, Nationals first baseman Clint Robinson played his first game at Kauffman Stadium since 2012. Back then, he was a member of the Royals for a brief time.
Robinson went 2-for-3 and knocked in three runs in Wednesday's rubber-game win.
Robinson, who was drafted by Kansas City in the 25th round of the 2007 Draft, played six years in the organization and didn't express any bitterness that he had a cup of coffee with the Major League team. During his time with the Royals, Robinson raked in batter's box. He drove in 90 or more runs twice for the organization, but he was always behind Eric Hosmer.
As Robinson put it, "There is no reason to be bitter." He is now a quality bench player with the Nationals.
"It's been a few years now. It wasn't like I was a long-tenured member of the organization in the big leagues," Robinson said. "For me, it was just another game, a game we needed to win. That's the way I approached it."
During Wednesday's game, Robinson exchanged pleasantries with Mike Moustakas and Hosmer, and Jarrod Dyson, guys he knew dating to the Minor Leagues.
"I'm still buddies with those guys. I really enjoy seeing them and they are doing so well," Robinson said. "But I'm really glad we beat them today."
