This season, every home run Rays out elder Colby Rasmus hits, he will aid the nonprofit disaster response organization Team Rubicon by pledging $1,000 through his "Hitters for Heroes" campaign. The Rays Baseball Foundation will also contribute $5,000 to Team Rubicon in support of Ramus' "Hitters for Heroes" campaign.

Launched in 2016 while a member of the Houston Astros, Rasmus and his "Hitters for Heroes" initiative have provided $15,000 to Team Rubicon after the outfielder recorded 15 homers during the 2016 season.

"As Team Rubicon helps disaster-stricken communities on their worst days, their veteran volunteers are regaining a sense of purpose, community and identity following military service," Rasmus said.

Team Rubicon helps communities affected by disasters by uniting the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. Since being founded in 2010 after the Haiti earthquake, Team Rubicon has deployed on over 180 disaster response operations around the world and currently maintains a growing roster of 45,000 volunteer members who are ready to deploy.
