Four nationally ranked teams, including No. 2 North Carolina among tournament field in 2013

Premier college baseball will continue this month at Minute Maid Park with one of the most competitive, early-season college baseball tournaments in the country when the 2013 Astros Foundation College Classic returns from March 1-3.

The six-team tournament, formerly known as the Houston College Classic, enters its 13th year at Minute Maid Park and will feature hometown schools Rice University and the University of Houston, who will be making their annual entry into the tournament. This year's field also includes Baylor, California-Berkeley, North Carolina and Texas A&M. Four of the teams in the tournament are ranked nationally among the top 30 in the 2013 preseason poll compiled by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, including North Carolina (#2), Rice (#18), Texas A&M (#24) and Baylor (#27).

Cal-Berkeley and North Carolina, which also enters this season as the No. 1 ranked team according to Baseball America, will be making their first appearances in the tournament.

The 2013 tournament marks the fifth consecutive year that the Astros Foundation College Classic field has included at least three teams ranked nationally in the top 30 in pre-season polls.
