Colorado Rockies add right-handed pitcher Pat Neshek to the 25-man roster

Infielder-outfielder Ian Desmond placed on the 10-day disabled list.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have added right-handed pitcher Pat Neshek to the 25-man roster and have placed infielder-outfielder IanDesmond on the 10-day disabled list (right calf strain) retroactive to July 26.
Neshek, 36, was acquired by the Rockies via trade with the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday in exchange for three Minor League players … will wear #37 with first base coach Tony Diaz transitioning to #43 … is 3-2 with a 1.12 ERA (40.1 IP, 5 ER), five walks and 45 strikeouts in 43 relief appearances this season … he is a two-time All-Star, in 2014 as a member of St. Louis and this season as the lone representative of the Phillies …  made his Major League debut on July 7, 2006 as a member of the Minnesota Twins and has played in parts of 11 seasons with Minnesota (2006-08), San Diego (2011), Oakland (2012-13), St. Louis (2014), Houston (2015-16) and Philadelphia (2017) … in 466 career relief appearances, is 31-21 with eight saves, a 2.76 ERA (432.2 IP, 130 ER), 125 walks and 423 strikeouts. Neshek Stats
·Desmond, 31, will be making his second stint on the disabled with a right calf strain, his third stint on the DL this season … was placed on the disabled list on July 3 and reinstated July 16 … in 65 games in his first season with Colorado, is batting .285 (69-for-242) with 33 runs, eight doubles, one triple, five home runs, 32 RBI, 14 walks and 10 stolen bases … in parts of eight Major League seasons with Washington (2009-15), Texas (2016) and Colorado (2017), the Sarasota, Fla., native has batted .268 (1,164-for-4,347) with 564 runs, 222 doubles, 25 triples, 137 home runs, 550 RBI, 290 walks and 153 stolen bases … signed a five-year contract with Colorado on Dec. 13, 2016. Desmond Stats
