Colorado Rockies agree to terms with first-round selection Brendan Rodgers

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has agreed to terms with shortstop Brendan Rodgers, the club's first-round selection (third overall) in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rodgers will be available to the media prior to tonight's game at 5:30 p.m. in the Rockies' interview room adjacent to the clubhouse.
Rodgers, who will turn 19 on Aug. 9, was rated as the top overall prospect by both Baseball America and MLB.com prior to the draft. The 6-foot, 190-pound shortstop was selected as a 2015 Perfect Game First Team All-American and Florida All-Region First Team.
The right-handed hitting shortstop batted .360 (27-for-75) with eight home runs and 23 RBI and turned 15 double plays for Lake Mary High School (Florida) in 2015. As a junior in 2014, he hit .397 (27-for-68) with eight home runs, five doubles, 18 RBI and 19 runs scored. Last summer, Rodgers participated in the Under Armour All-American Game and Perfect Game All-American Classic. Additionally, the 18-year-old was a 2013-14 Perfect Game Underclass First-Team selection.
