Rockies challenge stolen base, but safe call stands

DENVER -- A stolen base by the Padres' Everth Cabrera with two out in the sixth inning against the Rockies at Coors Field stood after an instant replay challenge from Rockies manager Walt Weiss.

The Padres were leading, 6-3, when Cabrera took off with Seth Smith batting against Rockies pitcher Matt Belisle.

Catcher Jordan Pacheco's throw and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki's tag arrived at about the same time that Cabrera's right hand touched the base. Second base umpire Marty Gonzalez made the call, which stood after the review.

The decision did not result in runs, although it came close. Belisle walked Smith, and Chase Headley reached when he struck out and took first on a wild pitch. Belisle, however, forced Yonder Alonzo to ground to short to end the inning.
