Kluber tabbed as AL's top pitcher for August

September 3rd, 2016

, after a dominant August for the American League Central-leading Indians, was named the AL Pitcher of the Month on Saturday.
Kluber went 5-0 in six starts during the month -- the best record in the leagues during that span -- while notching quality starts in all six outings, giving him a career-high 10 straight quality starts dating back to July 8. The most recent Indians pitcher to have 10 quality starts in a row was Cliff Lee in 2009.
The 30-year-old posted a 2.43 ERA and struck out 44 batters in 40 2/3 innings. His ERA ranked fourth among qualified AL pitchers.
Kluber capped the month for Cleveland with an eight-inning, 11-strikeout performance to beat the Twins on Aug. 31 -- his second double-digit-strikeout game of the season and the 23rd of his career.
It is the second career AL Pitcher of the Month Award for Kluber, who also won in September 2014 -- the month in which he closed out his AL Cy Young Award-winning campaign.
