ARLINGTON -- Indians ace Corey Kluber is not expected to miss any time after dealing with callus issues during his Opening Day outing against the Rangers on Monday.
Prior to Tuesday's game against Texas, pitching coach Mickey Callaway noted that Kluber has split calluses on the pointer and middle fingers of his right hand. The issue hindered Kluber's ability to throw his offspeed offerings, but he was able to stay in for six innings in Cleveland's 8-5 comeback win.
"I don't think it's as big [an issue as it seemed]," manager Terry Francona said. "They do a lot of good stuff now in the training room. He'll be fine."
Callaway noted that Kluber -- who allowed five runs on six hits, including three home runs -- was scheduled to throw off a mound during a bullpen session on Wednesday. With an off-day on Thursday, Kluber will have some extra rest before he is slated to start again for the Indians on Sunday in Arizona.

Callaway also said that Kluber's showing was a good message to the rest of the rotation out of the gates.
"[It] let all of our starters go out there and relax," Callaway said, "and know that, 'Hey, all I've got to do is do what they've really preached to me all along. Just keep us in the game, not worry about what just happened, how many runs you gave up or whatever. Just go out there and focus on the next batter and go as deep as you can in the game.'"
Chisenhall set for rehab
Right fielder Lonnie Chisenhall is scheduled to depart Texas on Wednesday in order to join Triple-A Columbus for the start of a rehab assignment.
The plan for Chisenhall, who is on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder issue, is to have him work out on Thursday, serve as the designated hitter on Friday and play the outfield on Saturday. If everything goes well, he might be ready to be activated in time for the April 11 home opener.
"I think that's realistic," Francona said. "Now, again, if he's not ready, if there's weather or things like that, [we'll adjust]. But he's doing pretty well."
