Cozens, Brogdon, Santos And Moniak Earn Organizational Honors For July

Lehigh Valley outfielder Dylan Cozens, Lakewood right-hander Connor Brogdon, Gulf Coast League Phillies East right-hander Victor Santos and Clearwater outfielder Mickey Moniak have been named Phillies Minor League Hitter, Co-Pitchers and Defender of the Month, respectively, for July.

Lehigh Valley outfielder Dylan Cozens, Lakewood right-hander Connor Brogdon, Gulf Coast League Phillies East right-hander Victor Santos and Clearwater outfielder Mickey Moniak have been named Phillies Minor League Hitter, Co-Pitchers and Defender of the Month, respectively, for July.
Cozens, 24, batted .303 with eight doubles, eight home runs, 22 RBI, 12 walks, 13 runs scored, and a 1.198 OPS in 18 games during July. He had two multi-home run games and homered in back-to-back games to start his month. Cozens did not play in a minor league game in July until the 12th and from then until the end of the month was second among all triple-A players in extra-base hits (16), tied for second in RBI and ranked third in home runs. His 18 homers overall this season are tied for third in the International League. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native was selected by the Phillies in the second round of the June 2012 draft.
The 23-year-old Brogdon made eight relief appearances for Lakewood in July and did not allow an earned run in his 12.0 innings of work. He went 2-1 with two saves, a 0.58 WHIP (2 BB, 5 H) and 16 strikeouts. In his final three appearances of the month, he tossed 7.0 innings, struck out 12 and allowed only three hits. The 6-foot-6 right-hander has not allowed an earned run over his last 18.0 innings since June 25 and has posted a 1.67 ERA in his 18 relief appearances for the BlueClaws this season. Brogdon was selected by the Phillies in the 10th round of the June 2017 draft.
Santos, who just turned 18 in July, went 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA (7 ER, 27.1 IP) and 32 strikeouts to three walks in five starts last month. On July 28, he struck out a career-high 11 batters and allowed two hits with no walks over 6.0 scoreless innings at the GCL Yankees East. Three of his last five starts have been scoreless outings (since July 9). A native of the Dominican Republic, Santos was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Nov. 18, 2016.
The 20-year-old Moniak did not commit an error in 26 games in the outfield during July. He started at each outfield position, primarily playing center field. Overall this season, he has not committed an error in 194 total chances over 91 games (90 starts) in the outfield. Additionally, he has five outfield assists in 2018.
