Rizzo reaches into stands to end threat

June 29th, 2016

CINCINNATI -- After a solid outing for starter Jon Lester, the wheels fell off a bit in the eighth inning of the Cubs' 7-2, 15-inning win Monday night at Great American Ball Park.
Billy Hamilton ended a streak of 14 straight batters retired with a solo home run to bring the Reds within one run. Then Jose Peraza singled and stole second, putting the tying run in scoring position.

While Zack Cozart had a chance to do some damage, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo had other plans. On a 1-2 pitch, Cozart popped a ball that looked like it was likely to land in the seats. Running back, Rizzo braced himself against the tarp and leaned into the stands, making the catch at a full extension.
It's the second catch like that for the Cubs in the last week. On June 24 against the Marlins, third baseman Javier Baez leaped into the stands down the third-base line to make a catch.
