Cubs-Cardinals Saturday start time moved up

Contest will begin at 3:15 p.m. CT due to forecast of inclement weather

ST. LOUIS -- The start time for the middle game of the Cubs-Cardinals series has been moved up three hours to 3:15 p.m. CT on Saturday to avoid expected inclement weather.

The forecast calls for widespread rain and thunderstorms in the St. Louis area beginning in the early evening and increasing in intensity throughout the night. Both clubs agreed to push the start time up to avoid any delays or a potential need to reschedule.

All fans who purchased a ticket for Saturday's game will be mailed a voucher for a complimentary ticket for a Cardinals game in 2014, regardless if they use their ticket for Saturday. Gates will open at 1:15 p.m.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause out fans, but believe this is the best alternative given what we know now," Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III said. "We hope that by making this announcement [Friday night] that we give our fans enough notice to adjust their schedules to attend this important game."
