WASHINGTON -- The Cubs' Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Dexter Fowler and Ben Zobrist are within 150,000 votes of one another for the top overall spot in the latest 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot update for the 2016 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard.
Rizzo, a two-time All-Star, is the National League's top vote-getter with 1,748,850 total votes. Bryant leads NL third basemen with 1,629,623 votes, Fowler is tops among outfielders with 1,611,833 votes, and Zobrist is first among second basemen with 1,601,381.

If Rizzo stays on top, he would become the first Cubs first baseman to lead the NL in fan voting since Derrek Lee did so in 2005.
"It's quite an achievement," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. "I definitely will watch [the game]."
"Our fans are stepping up big time and recognizing what we're doing, which is pretty special right now, the pace we're on," Rizzo said on Wednesday. "We consistently play good baseball, and we want to continue to consistently play good baseball and be in every game. It's fun to be a part of."
Bryant was named to the All-Star Game last year by the players. Fowler is seeking his first trip to the All-Star Game, and he is trying to become the first Cubs outfielder to win a fan election since Kosuke Fukudome and Alfonso Soriano did so in 2008.

A two-time American League All-Star, Zobrist is also vying for his first starting assignment. He would join Glenn Beckert (1970-71) and Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg (1984, '86-93) as Cubs second basemen to be voted a starter by the fans.
Rizzo, Bryant, Zobrist and Fowler will likely have company, as Addison Russell paces NL shortstops, receiving 1,170,012 votes so far.
The only team to have all four starting infielders was the 1963 Cardinals, which included first baseman Bill White, second baseman Julian Javier, third baseman Ken Boyer and shortstop Dick Groat.
Cubs catcher Miguel Montero ranks fourth among NL backstops, while Chicago's Jason Heyward is fourth among NL outfielders, and Jorge Soler is sixth.
"San Diego will be a great venue for the All-Star Game," Rizzo said. "It would be real exciting to go to, and I have a feeling a few of us will be going on this team. One year was with Starlin [Castro], and last year was with Kris, so this year to be with hopefully four, five guys would be great."

Last year, Rizzo and Bryant represented the Cubs at the All-Star Game. In 2008, the Cubs sent eight players to the event, including Fukudome, Geovany Soto, Soriano and Aramis Ramirez, and pitchers Ryan Dempster, Carlos Marmol, Kerry Wood and Carlos Zambrano.
