Cubs reduce spring roster to 52 players

The Chicago Cubs today optioned right-handed pitcher C.J. Edwards to Triple-A Iowa, reducing their spring roster to 52 players.

Chicago's spring roster of 52 players consists of 27 pitchers (six non-roster invitees), five catchers (two non-roster invitees), 10 infielders (four non-roster invitees) and 10 outfielders (three non-roster invitees).
