LOS ANGELES -- David Ross got his brownies and joined Cubs manager Joe Maddon for a private audience with legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully before Friday's 6-4 win.
Ross and Maddon presented Scully with a No. 67 from the Wrigley Field scoreboard as well as a Dodgers flag that flew at the Cubs' home ballpark. Maddon also included some T-shirts that the Cubs players are wearing this season with some of the manager's sayings, including "Respect 90," "Do Simple Better," and "The Process is Fearless" in Japanese.
"Everybody says it, but he makes you feel like he's known you for the last 50 years," Maddon said.

Scully, who is retiring after 67 years in the broadcast booth, asked Maddon about his mother, Beanie, who recently retired.
"He was really kind and gracious," Maddon said. "You have to be all of that to survive that many years besides being good. The way his authenticity and how he interacts with people, that really serves to keep you on that stage that long and successful.
"He's just a different human being," Maddon said. "I really feel fortunate that I have been able to exchange a handshake and have a photograph. That's like the window to the world up there when you sit up in his booth and he talks about the purple mountains majesty and how it reminds him of that. You think if you're watching at home, that's his perspective and that's his view that he's describing for so many years."
Maddon had met with Scully last year as well.
"When I went up last year, he was talking about Beanie the whole time," Maddon said.
Can Maddon envision Scully even wearing a T-shirt?
"I said, 'Maybe at the end of the year, sitting by your pool with your sandals on, you can put a T-shirt on where nobody sees you and just be Vin,'" Maddon said.
Scully is nearly always wearing a jacket and tie. T-shirts?
"It's not his baliwick," Maddon said.
Maddon still listens to Scully whenever he can, catching the Dodgers broadcasts on MLB Network. It brings back memories of when Maddon was in Long Beach, staying with his Uncle Rick and listening to Dodgers games then.
"I didn't care about the National League whatsoever except to hear him talk," Maddon said of Scully.
This is a sentimental trip for Ross, too. The veteran catcher was drafted by the Dodgers in 1988, and played for the team from 2002-04. A Dodgers fan named Jo has brought him cookies or brownies for every home game, and on Friday, she had a package for Ross as well.

It was a sweet goodbye.
