Cubs announce '18 schedule, open in Miami

Home opener set for April 9 vs. Bucs; Interleague vs. AL Central

CHICAGO -- The Cubs announced their 2018 regular-season schedule, and they will open next season in Miami against the Marlins on March 29. The Cubs' home opener will be played April 9 against the Pirates at Wrigley Field.
This is the 13th time in the past 17 seasons the Cubs will open the regular season on the road, and the first time in Miami since 1998.
Cubs' 2018 regular-season schedule
The Cubs open the 2018 season with an 11-day, 10-game trip, beginning with a four-game series in Miami on March 29-April 1. They'll play two games in Cincinnati on April 2-3, then travel to Milwaukee for a four-game series on April 5-8, before the first home game at Wrigley Field.
The home opener on April 9 kicks off a nine-game homestand vs. the Pirates (April 9, 11-2); the Braves (April 13-15); and the Cardinals (April 16-18).
In 2018, the Cubs will play American League Central teams in Interleague Play, including the annual home-and-home series with the White Sox, which feature three-game series at Wrigley Field on May 11-13 and at Guaranteed Rate Field on Sept. 21-23.
In addition, the Cubs will play host to the Indians (May 22-23), the Twins (June 29-July 1) and the Tigers (July 3-4). The Cubs will travel to Cleveland (April 24-25), play at Kansas City (Aug. 6-8) and at Detroit (Aug. 21-22).
The Cubs will host two holiday games in 2018: Mother's Day on May 13 against the White Sox and the Fourth of July against the Tigers.
The 2018 regular season will wrap up at Wrigley Field against National League Central teams as the Cubs play host to the Pirates on Sept. 24-27, and the Cardinals on Sept. 28-30.
