Cubs win challenge to avoid double play

Barney barely beats out throw to first as original call is overturned

MIAMI -- The Cubs had a call overturned in the fifth inning after manager Rick Renteria challenged it.

With the game tied at 1 in the Chicago half of the inning, John Baker was at first and Darwin Barney hit a grounder to Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, who flipped to second baseman Rafael Furcal for the force at second.

Furcal then threw to first baseman Garrett Jones, and Barney was originally called out by first base umpire Marcus Pattillo. But Renteria challenged the call, and after a one-minute, 22-second review, the call was overturned.
