FLUSHING, N.Y., November 9, 2016 - Curtis Granderson continued his impressive haul of off-season awards for his charitable efforts. The Major League Baseball Players Association today honored Granderson with the prestigious Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award. The award is given annually to a major league player whose on-field performance and contribution to his community inspire others to higher levels of achievement. 
 
Granderson is the Mets first winner of the award, which was introduced in 1997. It is the second time Granderson has won the award. He was honored as the 2009 Marvin Miller Man of the Year as a member of the Detroit Tigers. John Smoltz, Jim Thome and Michael Young are the only other players to win this award twice. 
 
Earlier this year, Granderson was presented with the national 2017 Lou Gehrig Award and the 2017 Roberto Clemente Award for his charitable endeavors. 
 
Granderson and his Grand Kids Foundation are currently in a month-long hunger relief campaign. His goal is to give away one million meals this month in New York City and Chicago.
