D-backs host Texas in Memorial Day '13 twin bill

PHOENIX -- The D-backs will open the 2013 season against the Cardinals at Chase Field on Monday, April 1.

That's no April Fool's Day joke.

After the three-game series with the Cardinals, the D-backs have a day off before a weekend series against the Brewers in Milwaukee followed by a six-game homestand.

Interleague Play will not go easy on the D-backs, who will face American League East teams as well as the Rangers.

The D-backs will host series with the Rays (Aug. 6-7), Orioles (Aug. 12-14) and Blue Jays (Sept. 2-4).

For the first time in franchise history, the D-backs played a day-night doubleheader at Chase Field in 2012. After having success with it, the club decided to schedule one for '13. That means that the Rangers will be in town for just one day, a day-night doubleheader on Memorial Day, Monday May 27.

With Interleague games occurring every day for the first time, the 2013 schedule has some unique twists. For instance, right after the doubleheader with the Rangers, the D-backs will have May 28 off before traveling to Texas for another two-game set with the Rangers.

The D-backs' Interleague road series include stops against the Yankees (April 16-18), Rangers (May 29-30), Rays (July 30-31) and Red Sox (Aug. 2-4).

The rival Dodgers visit Chase Field three times in 2013, with the first being a three-game series April 12-14.

The D-backs will face a September schedule chock full of National League West foes. Aside from three games against the Blue Jays at the beginning of the month and the final three against the Nationals, the rest are against the Giants, Dodgers, Rockies and Padres.
