Peralta eager for action after being activated

D-backs outfielder alters workouts after DL stint for lower back strain

LOS ANGELES -- D-backs outfielder is a perpetual man in motion. Former Arizona manager Kirk Gibson loved to point out how Peralta was always sweating when he saw him coming back from the workout room or hitting in the cage.
As he returns from his second stint on the disabled list, though, Peralta is realizing that sometimes less is more.
Peralta was activated Friday after being out of action since June 15 with a lower back strain.
"It's been tough to watch the games and not be able to do anything for the team," Peralta said. "I'm just happy to be back."
Peralta went 0-for-2 in Friday night's 9-7 loss to the Dodgers before being lifted for pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.
Peralta said he has altered his workout routine a bit.
"I just have to be smart doing my workouts and everything," he said. "I have to not overdo. They tell me sometimes you have to take it easy and not work out so much. I'm the kind of guy that wants to do a lot of stuff."
To make room for Peralta, the D-backs optioned outfielder to Triple-A Reno following Thursday's game in Milwaukee.
In other injury news, outfielder (elbow) took live batting practice at Salt River Fields.
"Pollock faced a couple of our young kids in the simulated batting practice," D-backs manager Chip Hale said. "He said he saw 30 pitches and swung three times. The guys were bringing it pretty good in the high 90s and he had to go down on his back a couple of times. He was excited to get in there against those pitchers, but maybe not those same guys again."
