Dorn called up with Inciarte placed on DL

ANAHEIM -- Danny Dorn sold peanuts and ice cream at Angel Stadium when he was a kid growing up and dreamed of playing there one day.

When Dorn's college team -- Cal State Fullerton -- played there, he was hurt, so he had to watch from the dugout.

So Dorn's first game action at the stadium came Tuesday when he got the start at first base for the D-backs with Paul Goldschmidt serving as the designated hitter.

"I've seen a lot of games here, so it's pretty exciting to be on the field now," Dorn said.

This is Dorn's second stint with the D-backs this year. He was called up from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday when the club placed outfielder Ender Inciarte on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Dorn, 30, made his Major League debut on April 21, and he was 3-for-9 during his time with the D-backs.

With Reno this year, Dorn was hitting .426 (63-for-148), with 14 doubles and a 1.098 on-base plus slugging.

"I think it's just preparation," Dorn said. "Just trying to come in everyday and go through my routine and my work and listen to the coaches and try to keep my swing as short as possible. Just take every day as a new day. It doesn't matter what you did yesterday, you've just got to go out and get hits every day and take good at-bats."

In addition to first base, Dorn can also play both corner outfield spots.
